How to Celebrate Valentines Day as a Single Girl

How to Celebrate Valentines Day as a Single Girl
Posted on

Just like clockwork, the festive season ends and the month of love hits us like a dozen roses aimed straight at our heartstrings. Everywhere we go leading up to V-Day we are bombarded with love hearts and the color red as far as the eye can see. For those in a committed relationship this can be a fun holiday to take some time out from your every day life to grant yourself permission to do something special with your other half. If you have just started dating there can be butterflies and excitement leading up to the big day as you wonder what might be in store for you and your new flame. Last but certainly not least, for the single ladies out there, Valentines Day is the perfect opportunity to spoil the person who matters most – YOU!

Here at Sandy Swim we believe that self-love is the most important type of love. This is why we have created a single girl V-Day guide with ways to help you celebrate the most important relationship you will ever have (your relationship with yourself) this Valentines Day.

Shop in the Name of Love

“I don’t need to go shopping” – Said NO woman ever!

The great thing about being single on Valentines Day is that the only person you need to spoil is yourself. So, if there has been an item of clothing, a pair of shoes, a handbag, or a cool piece of jewellery you have been eyeing for a while, now is the day to treat yourself! Don’t feel like heading to the mall? No worries – that’s what online shopping is for! No makeup, no pants, no problem, you can still buy the things you love from the comfort of your own home. With so many online boutique sales happening why not seas the day, and check out our Sandy Swim one-piece and two-piece swimsuit collection? You know you deserve it.

Self Care is a Necessity

The start of the year can be a very busy time. After a relaxing festive season, January can often be full steam ahead as we kick off a new year with new goals. This is why Valentines Day comes at just the right time to help us slow down and pamper ourselves. If you have the resources, treat yourself to a spa day. Many day spas offer great V-Day specials so why not take advantage and indulge? If you are looking for something more economical spoil yourself with a DIY facial in the comfort of your own home. Turn your phone off, play some relaxing music, fill your bathroom sink with hot water (be careful not to burn yourself), place a towel over your head and open your pours with a good face steam. Continue your at home facial with a good face cleanse and exfoliation, followed by a soothing hydrating face mask, moisturiser, night serum, and eye cream.

Sandy Swim Top Tip: Add a few drops of lavender to your hot water steam to help you relax long after your DIY facial is over.

Friendships are Forever

When it comes to Valentines Day its not just about receiving flowers from your crush, it’s also a chance to show your best friends and family just how grateful you are to have them in your life. These are the people who make you laugh a little louder, smile a little brighter, and live a little better, and they are worth all the love in the world. Make Valentines day more than just roses and chocolates. Take the time to send an email, share an Instagram shout out, or even write a hand written letter addressed to each special person who makes your life a little happier simply by being in it. When you give love you receive love, and this is the perfect way to give back to the special people in your world.

Sandy Swim Top Tip: Pick up the phone and call the people who make your life special, and wish them a happy Valentines Day. In a world of Social Media and texting, a phone call really does go a long way.

The Best Conversations Happen Over Dinner

Single and fabulous? Of course you are! Valentines Day is the perfect opportunity to host a dinner party and invite all the single and fabulous people in your life. If you are on a budget ask everyone to bring a plate of their favourite food and beverage of choice, decorate your table with love hearts and the color red, light some candles, whip up a bowl of pasta, a green salad, and ice-cream sundaes for dessert and voila! You have yourself a dinner party fit for a Valentines Day feast.

Sandy Swim Top Tip: Keep the food tasty but simple and remember that presentation is everything – so have fun with it!

No matter how you spend Valentines Day, always remember to follow your heart no matter where the tide might take you.

Love you to the beach and back again,

The Sandy Swim Team. xx
