The first 3 months of the year can be seriously brutal. From horrendously cold weather conditions to painful deadlines and final exams, so by the time the temperature heats up and spring break comes our way, it’s safe to say that some R & R is 100% in order.

Some of you might make the most of the change of season by kicking back and relaxing, while others might have less time to retreat. Whatever you do with your time this spring break do your best to spend it wisely, and as the saying goes “stop and smell the roses”.

When we daydream about taking some time out it’s safe to say that most of us most likely dream of warm weather and a tropical destination. Here at Sandy Swim our vacay goals are all about heading straight to the oceans edge in a cute Sandy Swim bikini to boot!

Whoever said the best things in life are free must have been talking about the beach. Right?

A day at the beach will cost you a great (safe) tan and a whole heap of happiness. The beach is nature at it’s best and it’s free for everyone from all walks of life. That’s right, nature’s greatest creation does not discriminate, does not judge and most of all it does not charge.

Top Tip: Lap up your beach freedom (see what I did there?) whenever you have the chance.

 

THE BEACH IS AN OUTDOOR SPA

 

Ever wondered why you leave the beach with baby soft hands and feet? The answer is simple –it’s all in the sand.

Forget spending your life savings on cleansers, moisturisers and exfoliating products, and instead just head to the beach! The sand at the beach is free of impurities and is a natural mineral source that will help shed dead skin cells leaving your skin nice and smooth.

Top Tip: Go for a walk near the water where the sand is wet and gently rub sand over your body before diving into the ocean to rinse. Be careful not to rub the sand on your face and neck though – the skin in these areas can be very sensitive!

 

OUTDOOR EXERCISE

 

Swimming is one of the few exercises that will work every muscle in your body. The resistance created by the water can help you build endurance, tone muscle, increase fitness, and help maintain a healthy weight. Swimming also puts little stress on the body so it is ideal for a person with past injuries, or anyone who likes gentle exercise.

Top Tip: The opportunities to exercise at the beach are endless! Finish off your beach workout with a jog in the sand for a great lower body workout.

 

AN OCEAN BREEZE PUTS THE MIND AT EASE

 

There is a reason why people flock to the beach to unwind and simply do nothing. The sound of the waves crashing, the seagulls chirping and the warm sun beaming down on us is true paradise. Also, did you know that people with asthma or breathing difficulties could find it easier to breathe at the beach? This is because not only do we relax our chest muscles the minute we step on the beach but the beach air is charged with negative ions that helps our lungs absorb more oxygen.

Top Tip: Take advantage of the health benefits of the beach by doing some breathing exercises to help relieve your daily stresses and increase oxygen to your lungs.

 

SAY GOODBYE TO INSOMNIA

 

Ever noticed how a day at the beach helps you have a good nights sleep? That’s because the beach is a natural form of meditation that automatically helps reduce stress and anxiety while the air quality also helps to promote some decent shuteye. Perhaps this is why people who live near the beach appear to be much more relaxed in their day-to-day life?

Top Tip: Put your phone away when at the beach and let yourself unwind in the wonder of nature’s greatest gift.
